The original company was founded in 1948 by Eric Terry, a Cheshire based engineer who developed the first personal hand wound lift for a local family. Terry Group has since enjoyed constant growth, now offering a full range of lifts for domestic and public access, as well as lift maintenance, repair and modernisation services.
Our lifts are installed worldwide through our extensive distributor network, which covers most continents, including Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia, Africa and South America.
Industry involvement
Safety is always at the forefront of the designers and engineers at Terry Group. This goes beyond rigorous design and testing standards and extends to how existing codes of practice and specifications can be strengthened to improve passenger safety for our lifts.
Since 1979 Terry Lifts has been at the forefront of defining safety standards and formulating policy and direction for disability access industry legislation. We actively work with government legislators, the LEIA international representatives and the British Standards Institute to establish European standards for lifting platforms, through floor lifts and stair lifts.
Terry Lifts are also members of the BHTA (British Healthcare Trades Association) and therefore we are obligated to comply with the BHTA code.
