Company history

With the foundation of the NZG-Modelle GmbH on 1 October 1968, a success story started which the two shareholders, Betty Hauer and Gerhard Schmid, were not able to imagine at that time. The first NZG model was designed and launched in still quite confined rooms on the 3rd floor of a furniture store in the Tafelfeldstraße: the excavator Weserhütte HW 70 with item number 101.

Soon, the ever expanding demand for high quality NZG models made a relocation to larger facilities necessary. Appropriate premises were found in the Sigmundstraße 147, the present head office of the company, and were expanded to 3000 m² in 1985. Besides the administration also the model-making, the painting shop, the manufacturing and the warehouse and dispatch department were located on this site. More than 400,000 models were manufactured and dispatched to worldwide customers in peak times.

In 1986, the daughters of the company's founders, Inge Ludwig (née Schmid) and Hannelore Hauer, joined the company and took over more responsibility step by step for the further development of the company. Hence, the course for a planned change of generation was set at an early stage and solidified by the transfer of the company shares until retirement of the company's founders Betty Hauer and Gerhard Schmid.

In 2000, Hannelore Hauer decided to sell her company shares to the family Ludwig. Since middle of 2000, Inge Ludwig and her husband Michael Ludwig, who has also been working for the company since 1988, have been the sole managing partners of NZG-Modelle GmbH.

NZG today

Since foundation of the company until today, decisions, measures have been taken and activities have been carried out so that NZG can successfully persist on the global model market. Thus, model-making and manufacturing have been outsourced to meet the requirements of the market.

Also the model programme was reoriented in the course of time: our product range and product development still focus on construction machinery and trucks in the scale 1:50. However, other scales and models belonging to other product lines, as lifting platform, crane and road construction models as well as historical models are part of our current programme.

Furthermore, special painting in individual customer colours are more and more offered and appreciated by most different customers - from the smaller concrete factory, carriers and crane rental agencies to worldwide acting construction companies.

To this day, NZG has developed, produced and delivered more than 700 different model types to more than 80 countries.

Commitment and vision

Today, NZG models guarantee high quality scale models made of zinc die-casting. Highest detailing, functionality and quality of the design are the central point of our common development and manufacturing work. It is our intention to highlight this commitment and our core competences as quality brand in the future.

We are known for the consistent implementation of customers' needs, absolute reliability in terms of delivery dates and a customer oriented after-sales and spare part service. It is our will and aspiration to meet the demands and model wishes of the "global players" and the "hidden champions" of the industry as well as the ones of serious collectors.
