The Danish family company with sales headquarters in Munich has been developing, producing and selling lifting and transport equipment for more than 45 years. Using mobile lifters, packaging materials on reels, crates, drums and other objects weighing up to 300 kilograms can be easily moved and transported by just one person. This makes working in production safer and reduces the physical strain on employees. Lifters are a simple, inexpensive solution for optimising operating and production processes, thereby increasing productivity while at the same time saving costs. They are a way of avoiding costly machine conversions or the additional purchase of logistics systems.
Hovmand's customers include medium-sized companies as well as major international corporations in the industrial, pharmaceutical, chemical, food production, retail and service sectors. In addition to standard configurations, Hovmand also develops tailor-made solutions. Thanks to the market leader's modular system, the lifters can be flexibly adapted to the customer's local conditions. Depending on the working environment, the weight to be moved, the type of load and the tasks to be performed, the mast, chassis and the lifting equipment required can be specifically combined to meet needs. In addition to aluminium lifters, Hovmand also manufactures stainless steel lifters for production environments where special hygiene requirements apply. The low-maintenance lifters have a service life of at least ten years and as much as twenty years. With the help of the show truck – a showroom on wheels that is unique in the industry – Hovmand's mobile lifters can also be demonstrated and tried out on site.
In 2019, Hovmand launched its own Virtual Engineering App. Hovmand's sales team use this to configure the appropriate lifter on the customer’s premises, drawing on a selection of over 100,000 potential configurations. With the help of an augmented reality function, the selected configuration can then be displayed realistically within the customer's environment.
Søren Hovmand, son of company founders Bibi and Hans Christian Hovmand, is the proprietor and managing director of the Danish family business. He joined his parents' company in 1999 and took over management in 2007. In May 2019 the company’s Danish headquarters in Sorø was relocated to a newly built innovation centre in Køge, just outside Copenhagen. Since 2014 Hovmand has maintained a sales office in Munich serving the Germany-speaking and Benelux regions as well as France, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic.
