In 1996, Door Motion Technologies, Inc. was formed to manufacture and distribute door opening devices to improve accessibility for the disabled and elderly. Having had decades of experience in electronics, manufacturing and marketing, the principals of the company designed and brought to market a substantial line of swing door operating equipment, automating residential doors, commercial doors and doors and gates for elevators (and platform lifts). DMT has been a supplier to the major residential elevator and lift manufacturers in the US and Canada for over a decade. Since 1996 thousands of businesses and residences in the US and Canada have become more accessible simply by retrofitting existing doors with one of our DuraSwing operators. DMT developed proprietary control software for the DuraSwing operators, for the precise control of its powerful DC gearmotors, and SafeTek algorhythms to protect users of this equipment. DuraSwing door operators are designed to be tough, durable and easy to install (yes, it requires the installer to read the manual and be comfortable using common household tools).

To make our product more attractive to installers, our designers drew on experience to build into the DuraSwing 4 a degree of installation versatility that is still unique in our industry. Over the years we have seen that installers have mounted the operator in many “non-standard” ways due to the vertical nature of the operator, making the device the most flexible and appropriate in a variety of applications where other brands simply cannot work.
